WTO Arbitrator determines “reasonable period of time” in Colombia Textiles dispute
WTO, 15 November 2016 

On 15 November 2016, an Arbitrator issued his Award regarding the “reasonable period of time” for implementing the recommendations and rulings of the Dispute Settlement Body (DSB) in the dispute “Colombia – Measures Relating to the Importation of Textiles, Apparel and Footwear (WT/DS461/14). The Arbitrator determined that the “reasonable period of time” for Colombia to implement the DSB’s recommendations and rulings in this dispute is seven months from the adoption of the panel and Appellate Body reports. The “reasonable period of time” therefore expires on 22 January 2017.”

Bhutan signs new trade pact with India

India and Bhutan today signed the Agreement on Trade, Commerce and Transit that aims to enhance trade between the two countries through trade facilitation, cutting down documentation and adding additional exit/entry points for Bhutan's trade with other countries.

Emerging economies question EU surveillance measure on steel imports

WTO, 07 November 2016

A surveillance measure on imports of certain steel and iron products into the European Union (EU) was raised as a cause for concern by several emerging economies at the meeting of the Committee on Import Licensing on 3 November. The EU said this import licensing system is meant to collect information about traders’ intention to import.
