The Philippines ratifies Trade Facilitation Agreement

The Philippines has ratified the Trade Facilitation Agreement (TFA), becoming the 95th member of the WTO to do so. The Philippines’ instrument of acceptance was submitted to the WTO on 27 October.
Concluded at the WTO’s 2013 Bali Ministerial Conference, the TFA contains provisions for expediting the movement, release and clearance of goods, including goods in transit. It also sets out measures for effective cooperation between customs and other appropriate authorities on trade facilitation and customs compliance issues. European Union files appeal against WTO compliance panel ruling on aircraft subsidies

The European Union filed a notice of appeal today, 13 October, challenging a WTO compliance panel’s findings in the dispute “European Communities and Certain Member States — Measures Affecting Trade in Large Civil Aircraft – Recourse to Article 21.5 of the DSU by the United States.” The compliance panel issued its report on 22 September. Appellate Body issues report regarding EU duties on biodiesel from Argentina

On 6th Oct, 2016 the WTO Appellate body issued its report in the case “European Union- Anti dumping measures on biodiesel from Argentina”. This dispute concerns two sets of measures of the European Union. First, Argentina makes “as such” claims against Article 2(5), second subparagraph, of Council Regulation (EC) No. 1225/2009 of 30 November 2009 on protection against dumped imports from countries not members of the European Community (the Basic Regulation). Second, Argentina challenges certain aspects of the anti-dumping measures imposed by the European Union on imports of biodiesel from Argentina. More…

Union Cabinet approves MoU between India and African Asian Rural Development Organization

The Union Cabinet on 5 October 2016 approved the signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between India and the African Asian Rural Development Organization (AARDO) for capacity building programmes in the field of rural development.
Under this MoU, capacity building programmes for AARDO member countries will be organized every year at various Institutions of Excellence in India such as National Institute of Rural Development & Panchayati Raj, Indian Council of Agricultural Research, Indian Institute of Management and others.
