Regional Consultation Seminar on South Asian Positions in the WTO Doha Round

With objectives of disseminating the findings of SAFIT III research and facilitating discussions between trade policy professionals and practitioners from south Asia, a Regional Consultation Seminar is being organised under the project. The seminar entitled “South Asian positions in the WTO Doha Round” will be held at Colombo on 18 June 2010, in collaboration with the Institute of Policy Studies of Sri Lanka, a leading social science research institute and think-tank. With a wide participation of various stakeholder groups including trade negotiators, civil society organizations and academia, the seminar will help to form a clear picture of the current preferences of South Asian Countries with respect to the main topics of the ongoing WTO negotiations and provide suggestions and recommendations on stands that need to be taken in support of these preferences.
