Promoting Navigational Usage of Inland Waterways in Ganga and Brahmaputra Basins

About the Project

CUTS efforts on improving trade infrastructure in South Asia has recently been encompassing work on the multiple inland waterways of South Asia. The three major river basins shared among Bangladesh, Bhutan, India and Nepal are Ganga, Brahmaputra and Meghna. These river basins are closely interconnected in various dimensions such as irrigation, transport, trade and tourism. Hence CUTS has initiated multiple studies which aim to link the riverine communities with the transboundary trade connectivity via inland waterways. This website is aimed to act as a repository to document CUTS work in the region on differentiated studies to promote the usage of inland waterways to facilitate cross-border trade and connectivity among communities.
